The system supports two different internationalisation approaches:
Localisation provides more flexibility, but requires more effort to keep all locales (markets) consistent.
Translation keeps all languages in sync automatically, as it only allows translating the global content, but has limited possibilities for structural changes in individual languages.
Localisation allows total freedom for each locale: Each market has their own folder in Storyblok, where they can freely edit the content of all of their stories. It's the responsibility of the market to ensure consistency with global English.
The local story is connected to its global counterpart via the Dimensions, also called an Alternate link.
In the Translation approach, there is only one page hierarchy and one story, which is shared for all languages. The translations happen on the individual fields of a story. Local markets are limited in changing the structure of a story.
Worflows are not available per language, but only for the story as a whole.
Under Tools the Translation Plugin can be used to automatically translate any page into the desired language.
